hutton parish council

The village of Hutton, on the fringes of the Somerset resort of Weston-super-Mare, has a reputation for decorating its verges, nooks and crannies with flowers - thousands of them. Hutton in Bloom has more floral awards than you can shake a trowel at and this year the team of ‘bloomers’ is hoping to get its third gold award in a row.

One of its special displays is a floral bell under the village chestnut tree, reminding everyone that St. Mary’s Church ringers are still raising money to rehang the bells, to augment the peal from five to six and to carry out major work on the Victorian time piece.
Work starts on the clock and the bells in September and the final Sunday ringing on the five will be on September 6.   A week before, on Saturday August 29 the bells will be available for open ringing from 9.30 to 12 noon. This will be the last chance to ring on this very old peal of five.

The local team will be there to provide coffee in the church.
